How To Set Up A Google Display Ad 2019


hey what’s going on YouTube it’s John
here with non stop affiliate and in this video I’m going to show you how to set
up a display ad in 2019 or how to set up a banner ad display ad it’s the same
thing so basically what it is is we’ve all seen him you’re watching a youtube
video and you’ll see a little display right here on the side or maybe you’re
scrolling through a website and you’ll see the little banner ad right here on
the side it’s the same thing or display ad or banner ad so in this video I’m
going to show you how to set one of those up so all you have to do is go
over to your Google Ads account you’re gonna click on campaigns on the side and
click on the blue plus arrow icon so you can start creating a new campaign click
on new campaign put your first gonna click on website traffic and then you’re
gonna click on display ad now real quick if you are new to my channel if this is

learn all right so after that you’re gonna go ahead and just leave it on
standard display campaign and right here you could add your website you don’t
have to I leave it alone for right now and just add everything in later so
we’ll just go ahead and continue after that you want to go ahead and give you a
campaign a name so what I usually do is add in a keyword that the campaign has
to relate to I add the date in and out of what I’m gonna be targeting whether
I’m targeting desktop mobile tablets so I add that and so first I’ll add in a
keyword so for example if this was OK at our campaign
I’ll put in guitar then I will put in the date and then I would put in what
I’m gonna be targeting the device so for this one we’ll go with desktop alright
after that it’s gonna be your locations now the locations really depends on the
offer you’re from whether you could target to the United
States Canada Australia United Kingdom so if it’s only targeting the United
States you can leave it as United States they also give you US and Canada as a
default but if you have other locations like for example the UK or Australia you
want to enter in other locations right here click that and start entering the
locations you want to target so United Kingdom if you do this then you have to
re-enter United States if you also want United States so again that all has to
do with the offer you’re promoting and where exactly you’re allowed to target
in locations so next is your languages again same thing so if it’s in English
then you’re gonna leave it in English if you’re promoting the French offered and
obviously you change it to French language so you could just leave that
alone now after that’s gonna be your bidding
so when it comes to bidding what I usually do is go ahead and click on
select other bidding strategy put it on manual CPC and leave this on right here
help increase conversions on enhanced CPC which basically means that Google’s
going to start naturally showing your add more people that are likely to buy
based on the information that it’s collecting so you want to leave that
alone right there next is your budget so your budget really depends on would you
know obviously what you could afford with your budget you’re starting off
with what I usually like to do is based on conversion so if every conversion
i’ll make 30 bucks for every say i get 30 bucks i’ll start with 30 bucks some
people like to go double or triple of each conversion so they’ll add in 60 or
90 bucks but that’s really based on your own budget and what you can be starting
off with so for right now we’ll just leave it at 20 bucks next you’re gonna
open up your additional settings this is very important i’m not sure why google
puts this at the bottom right here but you want to go through your additional
settings open those up so inside of here what you’re gonna look at is frequency
capping you’re gonna open that up click on set of limit and set your frequency
capping to only five per month now that’s what i usually do this is our
preference like so it works but what this means is my ad is only
going to show through one person five different times in a month because for
me for example for me I really hate when I continue to see that same ad over and
over and over and over again and obviously I’m not clicking on it but I’m
still seeing it over and over and over again it just gets annoying and I feel
like it gets people annoyed so I like to set it to five per month that way they
only see that five different times in one month if they don’t like it fine
they don’t see it anymore and it goes on to somebody else
so make sure you set your frequency cap so you don’t show your same ad to the
same person again and again and again so once you’re done with that go ahead and
come down then you can leave these two alone and next it’s gonna be content
exclusion so click open up content exclusion and with this it means is
you’re going to exclude your content from several types of websites so for
example mature audiences we don’t need to be shown on with your website’s
content that’s not labeled any of that stuff social issues conflict sexual
suggestions so all those that have nothing to do with our ad we’re gonna
get excluded from those and from over here it’s gonna be games all right
doesn’t have anything to do with games or video so that’s so for yourself for
example video you want to go ahead and get out of it if you’re not doing if you
don’t want your ad to be next to a YouTube video so in this case maybe we
do one or ad showing next to a YouTube video just like this ad was right here
if you do want your ad in a YouTube video make sure you leave those on so
we’ll leave those on for right now but this one will remove this one and park
domains will remove that right there so make sure you you check all these boxes
right here and after that is going to be your ad group name so for add a group
name I always add in the whatever I’m gonna be targeting so for example you
have the options to target keywords you have the option to target websites and
YouTube videos so whatever you’re gonna be targeting that’s what I always name
my ad group after so for example this one will go with keywords so right here
I will add in keywords afterwards keywords and I’ll show you what I mean
in a second by that so here’s gonna be our targeting right
now so if you are have an audience created you you will go
ahead and fill this out but since this is the first time we’re gonna be running
this ad right here we’ll just go ahead and leave audiences alone you want to
open up demographics and make sure you add in your demographic so for example
if you’re targeting males from the ages of 18 to 44 you will remove all this
right here the ones that are married excuse me the ones that are pet or
parent already and the ones that have an income of forty percent or higher so all
that demographic saw has to do with the ad you want to make sure you do your ad
research first to make sure you know exactly who you’re gonna be targeting
before you even set up an ad like this because you don’t want to just be
throwing shots at in the dark so make sure you setup your demographics close
that out the way and next is the content targeting so this is what I meant for
your ad group name so we’re gonna use keyword c but if you were may be
targeting topics or placements then you would change the name of your ad group
to topics or placements whatever you’re gonna be targeting we’re gonna go with
keywords so we’ll leave our ad group name and keywords so like I mentioned
for example this was a guitar so like I mentioned for example this was a guitar
ad may be a course that I’m promoting showing people how to play guitar so
what is put in guitar how to play guitar and then what you want to do and this is
very important make sure you check this one right here content only shows on
websites apps our videos related to keywords you don’t want to leave it on
audiences because if you leave it on audiences Facebook is just gonna blast
it out I mean Google’s just gonna blast it out through different audiences all
over the web so you want your content to only show on websites that are very
related with your keywords so make sure you add a new check content right here
after that you just want to leave target expansion’s alone you want to come down
here and add your ad group it so it gives you an ad group if suggestion you
could go by that or maybe just start off a little bit lower I usually start off
at about $1 if I don’t see any results any impressions and clicks
I’ll hire it up by 10 cents and if I still don’t see it and I’ll hire it up
by another 10 cents slowly work my way up so I’m not over bidding my own
campaigns so next you’re gonna go ahead and create your ad so all you have to do
is go ahead and click on add now right here you have two options you have
either responsive ad or you have a display ad exactly so this is the
difference between them our responsive ad is gonna be look like this like this
when I here as you can see you have the option to go ahead and add a little bit
of description you have a title to it you have a little check a little arrow
right here on the side with a little photo that’s a responsive one a regular
display ad is the only banner photo so for example this right here you don’t
have a description you don’t have a little headline at the top right here
it’s the only photo so this is really up to you whatever display you’re gonna be
doing if you’re gonna be doing a responsive one like this or you’re gonna
be doing a display one like this you would just decide that over here so for
right now we’ll go ahead and I’ll show you what responsive ad looks like so see
if you come down here it shows you the exact responsive one so you can see what
it looks like you just start adding in your images your final URL and the
headline so alright so I just took a little second to fill everything out so
all I did was added an image add the final URL so this is gonna be your
actual website or your landing page for URL right here added a headline
description and just added a little description at the bottom as you can see
here this is exactly what the ad looked like with a little arrow on the side a
little headline a little description and image just like the one on the YouTube
video over here so that was an in responsive that as you can see here you
gives you the different options to view them over here so for mobile it would
look like this on YouTube on the Display Network it would look like that so it
gives you all the options to make it to a preview on so you can see exactly what
your ad is gonna look like now let’s say if it was just gonna be a display ad so
we’ll just go ahead and click on ad to ad group and we have your first
ad now that was all like I mentioned a responsive ad this player if you just
want to upload the regular image so if you just have the image and that’s it so
for this all you’re gonna do is add in your final URL your landing page URL and
all you’re gonna do is add in your picture your little banner photo so for
example one that looks like this right here now if we try to use the guitar one
that I just used it might be a little bit too big so if I try to do that let’s
see yeah it’s showing me that took its hard
photo that I’m using is too big and since we’re using a little banner ad it
does have to be a certain size so all I would have to do is chop down this photo
right here resize it to the appropriate size so for example tells you told me
right here the app has to be less than 150 KB in size it also gives you the
supported sizes and formats right here so you can just check those out to make
sure that your little photo is the exact size it needs to be because since it’s
gonna be just a little added that looks like this right here no pixel photo does
have to be a certain size for it to look right and be able to display inside the
inside of a website like this so you might have to go go ahead and change
that out so all you will do is just add in the final URL and add in the the add
banner photo inside of here the display photo inside here and then just click on
add to add group since we’re not able to do it right now we’ll just leave it
alone so after that just go ahead and click on create campaign then all you
have to do is just go into your campaign and make sure you add in maybe different
target audiences so maybe you could target topics maybe you could target
placements you all you do want to make sure you go into your devices because
like I mentioned this was supposed to be a desktop at only so since it was only a
desktop ad right here I’m gonna turn off mobile mobile targeting so all I have to
do is me go inside the devices go to mobile phones and click on decrease by a
hundred percent so tablets and TV screens as well because we don’t want to
be targeting TV screens or tablets obviously so just click on decrease by a
hundred percent and again like I mentioned the only
other thing is gonna be your targeting so for example if you’re targeting
topics placements you’d go inside of here your placements maybe you want it
on a certain website so for example if I wanted to target only this website right
here and show that ie I come inside of here entering that website and put my ad
only on that website right there or maybe on topics again as well I could
target certain topics that have to do with guitar or even YouTube videos so
for example if I wanted to target this specific YouTube channel or specific
YouTube video all I’d have to do is come down here go to placement and add in
your ad in the YouTube display right here so as you can see here it shows me
YouTube channels YouTube video so I’ll go ahead and just type in the one that I
want to target specifically and afterwards just click on save now the
only other thing I would suggest is go over to your settings make sure all your
settings look the same and if you are using a tracking tool or tracking
template come down to a campaign URL options open that up and add an audio
tracking template all your tracking links to everything that your if you’re
using the track this campaign make sure you add that in because it’s very very
important that you’re tracking every single ad you create so for example if
you had several different ad groups if this ad group you were targeting
keywords and your other ad group is targeting a certain YouTube video or a
certain web site you want to make sure you’re tracking that so you can see
exactly where your traffic is coming from and all right guys that’s basically
it right there if you want to see exactly what your ad looks like just
click on ads and ads and extensions and it shows you a copy of it again so if
you need to see it again if you want to edit it up again just click on ads and
extensions and you’ll see you right there I hope you guys did enjoy this
