Every High School Principal Should Say This

Every High School Principal Should Say This

If every high school principal gave the following
speech, America would be a much better place. To the students and faculty of our high school: I am your new principal, and honored to be
so. There is no greater calling than to teach
young people. I would like to apprise you of some important
changes coming to our school. First, this school will no longer honor race
or ethnicity. I could not care less if you are black, brown,
red, yellow or white. I could not care less if your origins are
African, European, Latin American or Asian, or if your ancestors arrived here on the Mayflower
or on slave ships. The only identity this school will recognize
is your individual identity—your character, your scholarship, your humanity. And the only national identity this school
will recognize is American. This is an American public school, and American
public schools were created to make better Americans. If you wish to affirm here an ethnic or racial
identity—or a national identity other than American —you will have to attend another
school. This includes after-school clubs. I will not authorize clubs that divide students
based on identities such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or whatever else may become
in vogue in our society. Those clubs cultivate narcissism—an unhealthy
preoccupation with the self—while the purpose of education is to get you to think beyond
yourself. This school’s clubs will be based on interests
and passions—clubs that transport you to the wonders and glories of art, music, astronomy,
languages you do not already speak, and more. If the only extracurricular activities you
can imagine being interested in are those based on ethnicity, race or sexual identity,
that means that little outside of yourself really interests you. Second, I do not care whether English is your
native language. My only interest in terms of language is that
you leave this school speaking and writing English as fluently as possible. The English language has united America’s
citizens for over 200 years, and it will unite us at this school. Furthermore, I would be remiss in my duty
to ensure that you will be prepared to successfully compete in the job market, if you leave this
school without excellent English-language skills. We will learn other languages here—it’s
deplorable that most Americans only speak English —but if you want classes taught in
your native language rather than in English, this is not the right school for you. Third, because I regard learning as a sacred
endeavor, everything in this school will reflect learning’s elevated status. This means, among other things, that you and
your teachers will dress accordingly. There will be a dress code at this school. And you will address all teachers by their
title, not by their first name. They are your teachers, not your pals. Fourth, no obscene language will be tolerated
anywhere on this school’s property. By obscene language, I mean the words banned
on radio and television, plus epithets such as the b-word, even when addressed by one
girl to another, or the n-word, even when used by one black student to another. It is my intent that by the time you leave
this school, you will be among the few your age to distinguish between the elevated and
the degraded, the holy and the obscene. Fifth, we will end all self-esteem programs. In this school, self-esteem will be attained
in only one way—the only way self-esteem can be attained—by earning it. One immediate consequence is that graduating
classes will have one valedictorian, not eight. Sixth, and last, I am reorienting the school
toward academics and away from politics and propaganda. No more time will be devoted to racism, sexism,
Islamophobia, homophobia, global warming, tobacco, or gender identity. No more classes will be devoted to condom-wearing
and teaching you to regard sexual relations as no more than a health issue. And there will be no more attempts to convince
you that you are a victim because you are not white or male or heterosexual or Christian. This school will have failed if any of you
graduate without considering him or herself inordinately lucky—lucky to be alive and
lucky to be an American. Now, please stand and join me in the Pledge
of Allegiance to the flag of our country. As many of you do not know the words, your
teachers will hand them out to you. I’m Dennis Prager.

  1. I’m conservative and I still disagree with much of this video. Tobacco is not a political issue. Sexual education should not be banned as it can prevent STDs and unwanted pregnancies. I also don’t really see the point of banning culture clubs.

  2. Trying to deliver that speech to a packed auditorium of teenagers will only get so much talking going on by the students the principal won't be heard.. they will laugh and talk over most of it especially the "b" and "n" word. The principal would lose Authority upon the first meeting then and that would be very bad…. It would be better to play it twice or three times over a monitor in each individual classroom where each teacher can keep a lid on the kids. Hand out written rereads of what was said …and answer questions…..I like Prager but they're used to college level students, they have no idea what you're dealing with with high school kids. Nice idea though….it's levelheaded, direct and goes to the core of what education is all about….Betsy DeVos and President Trump should use it as a directive to all principals who oversee federally funded public schools. If Obama can demand a lessening of diciplinary action based on race and tie funding to it….Then Betsy DeVos and President Trump can direct the removal of identity politics in schools and place an emphasis on unity as "Americans" instead. IT CAN'T HAPPEN SOON ENOUGH !!!!

  3. I am in high school. Half of this stuff doesn't even happen. Ironically, the right wing students are the dividing forces in our body but you guys conveniently didn't acknowledge that did you?

  4. Very interested in your videos on education. But how do you enforce saying the pledge and the cursing? Is it all cursing ?
What kind of dress code do you propose for boys and girls? What sort of enforcement for infractions do you propose? Please list steps if applicable. What is your high schools student population?

  5. ‘If you wish to affirm here a national identity other than American you will have to go to another school’
    Is this a joke ?

  6. ‘We won’t be discussing political topics such as global warming’
So Dennis I guess you’ll have to ban biology as well. Or literally any science since it’s considered political nowadays

  7. This video is so wrong let’s just get the few worst points out of it:
    1) ‘We won’t be discussing political topics such as global warming’
So Dennis I guess you’ll have to ban biology as well. Or literally any science since it’s considered political nowadays
    2) ‘If you wish to affirm here a national identity other than American you will have to go to another school’
    Is this a joke ?
    3) ‘no more classes will be dedicated to teach you how to wear a condom’
And then they complain about abortions and how we should face the consequences of our acts…well maybe if you teach your students it would help…

  8. Ummm, I don't mean to be disrespectful, but can someone please explain to me why teaching about condom-wearing is propoganda?

  9. Damn taxes are wasted on goddamn racial groups providing absolutely no value to anyone but themselves, stroking their own victimhood

  10. You aren't going end kids swearing a blue streak on campus. Kids were swearing, when I was in high in the 1970s. One teacher asked a kid if he swore at the dinner table. He said yes.

I don't have a problem with students identifying themselves by ethnic heritage. I fly the Cross of St. George when England plays soccer and on the Queen's Birthday, and my great grandfather immigrated from Somersetshire in the 1870s.

Why would I not be proud of being descended from the people who devised the Common Law, the bicameral legislature, and the language of Shakespeare, Dickens, and Hardy?

  11. Next you'll want parents to take an interest in their own children AND guide them in their life.
That's sarcasm for those that don't get it 🤨

  12. You say that schools should get rid of classes that support narcissism .
Yet you focus so much on the American identity as an aspect of the self. Doesn't that seem narcissistic to be proud of being born in a country that happens to be America

  13. You know what would be one of the most noticeable results if they did this? Mass shootings (or mass killings of any kind) would dramatically decline. Forget gun control. Teach respect. Both respect for others and self-respect (NOT narcissism).

  14. It really is where the problems have started in America. The class room is in ruins. The teachers Union is in the Democrats pockets!

  15. You are not a victim if you are not white male, hetero or Christian. W will also be ignoring all issues pertaining to be people who are not white, male, hetero and Christian.

  16. So essentially we are going back to the way education was before the Clinton era ruined it.

    ❤️❤️One Valedictorian, not Eight❤️❤️

  17. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!, you want this school to due away from politics and propaganda but not from God, you want every kid to come out of this school feeling holy and pledge allegiance to a flag that talks about God when in the constitution states that there should be a separation of state and church? NO THANK YOU!

  18. This is an idealistic video, and I agree with its content . But unfortunately, our schools, including mine in Australia, are left wing based and would not tolerate such a speech. So a follow up video might be helpful, in helping Principals deal with realities, and not just blurt out this speech and losing their job the very next day.

  19. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and Justice for all

I'm always so happy that my kids schools still say the pledge of allegiance

  20. This is how it should be, but it's not gonna happen, the main thing that should be implemented is no politics in schools no self-esteem pats the back unless for good grades n watch how much better shit would be. lol

  21. “No being proud of the things that make you different. You are all the same. Conform to the needs of the machine.”

  22. >"The only identity this school will recolonize is your individual identity"

    >"Reorienting the school towards academics and away from politics"

    >"This is an American school, meant to create better Americans"

♪ ♫ One of these things is not like the others. ♫ ♪

  23. The whole point is to have respect for yourself and others……something parents should teach their children. If you talk, dress, speak and act like trash, then you are perceived as trash. Others will only view you as what you project to view. Every person on this planet is here for a reason and was given a gift. Don't waste such a precious gift!

  24. right wing individualism has been degraded to a pedestal where I feel ashamed to be even saying that I once considered this man a great role model for conservatives. I think you are mixing up right wing beliefs with facism because many people get this wrong is not the same shit. I am an individual who likes being identified as a liberal but no as a leftist because they are not the same, exactly the same way facism and conservitism isn't the same.

  25. As a HS student, (sophomore) I want to say a few things. More than half of my friends, including me have experienced some kinda of depression, anxiety or lack of self-esteem. It is very arrogant of you to say that they can obtain that through good grades. Certainly, those can help, but to act as though that is fulfilling to a teenager is flat out wrong. Look around at the world we're raised in! Divorce rates are extremely high and kids rarely go out and take risk, even something as small as asking to be someone's friend takes gut! I had a kid TEXT me to ask if we could be friends. THAT'S how bad self-esteem is.

On another issue. Why would you, a person who advocates for open and honest discussion, want to get rid of theories about Climate Change in school?

Why would you, a person who is pro-life, be against a class which tries to tell kids to, IF they have sex, to be safe and wear a condom. By doing that all you doing is telling them to have unprotected sex which, sadly, could lead to a abortion.

Also, I don't like modern feminism, or BLM, but we do need tie in school dedicated to how those people (Woman and Blacks/other races) got their rights. Its is a very important part in our history.

  26. I like the ending, pointing out many students don't even know the words to the Pledge of Allegiance anymore. Sad, but true!

  27. Where I come from the principals dont say these, the students are disciplined into them since as early as 6. And I thought we have a despotic backwater system.

  28. PragerU: We need free speech, stop censoring people from the real world
Also PragerU: No obscene language, people can’t talk about the fact that different types of people exist, no more education on anything remotely controversial, I guess racism and sexism never existed, lol condoms? Nope use the internet to learn about that buddy. Seriously this video is everything wrong with a lot of schools.

  29. This makes too much sense!!! I can see libtards dropping their jaws with the typical stupid look that they all have when factual knowledge has been dropped on them! I made my daughter and stepson watch this!!!

  30. I love how you can say your local public school is "not the school for you"… And lets not forget we are all equally lucky because we are alive and American… Clearly the only two things that can make you lucky…. Yeah please prager remove this propaganda. LMAO

  31. crazy that 14 thousand idiots found their way here from dumb liberal channels like cnn and vox just to downvote this video!

  32. I wonder what would happen to my youngest son's principal if he repeated this over the intercom at his school. He would never do that of course. He's a little skinny , efeminate, hippy type who would probably have an anxiety attack if he heard this

  33. I mean why wait til high school. This sounds like a lesson that should be taught the for the first five years of school. Kindergarten thru 4th.
