Cardi B leads all nominees at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards and we’re sure she likes it like that. The Bronx native is our most-nominated artist this year, with a total of 21 nods, in 18 categories, including top artist, top female artist, top rap artists and top rap album, to name a few. Cardi just missed the record for most nominations ever, set by Drake and The Chainsmokers, who each had 22 back in 2017. They say you’re your own biggest competition and that actually might be true… “The Invasion of Privacy” rapper will compete against herself in three categories — top Hot 100 song, top selling song, and top collaboration. Cardi was followed by Drake and Post Malone with 17 nominations each, Travis Scott is up for 12, late rapper XXXTentacion for 10, and Ariana Grande rounds out the top five with 9 nominations. For this year’s ceremony, there are two fan-voted categories — top social artist, and chart achievement. And among the nominees for top social artist are three K-pop groups including EXO, GOT7, and BTS, with the latter looking to defend their 2018 title. Awards season favorites, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper are up for the chart achievement award, top soundtrack for “A Star Is Born,” and top selling song for “Shallow.” You can catch all the winners when they’re announced at the BBMAs on Wednesday, May 1st. Our girl Kelly Clarkson will return as host of the ceremony, which airs live on NBC from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. For the full list of nominees, head to Billboard.com.
