Move over Taylor, here comes BTS! We can now confirm the guys have broken the all time record for biggest 24-hour YouTube debut for a music video, besting Ms. Swift who previously held the record! Now I’m sure you remember it well – the world nearly stopped when Taylor dropped the lead visuals off her ‘Reputation’ album last August on her way to 43.2 million first-day views. That was the record until BTS dropped “Idol” Friday morning. Thanks to overwhelming ARMY support – the clip saw 45 million views in its initial 24 hours – giving it the all time record. Speaking just to BTS music videos – “Idol” beats out the group’s previous mark set by May’s “Fake Love”, which saw 35.9 million in a single day. “Idol” is the least single off BTS’ new album ‘Love Yourself: Answer’, which also dropped Friday. While not available on the physical edition of the record, the digital version of Answer features a remix to “Idol” which sees the guys joined by Nicki Minaj. The record-breaking may continue into fall as BTS readies for the North American leg of their world tour – beginning in Los Angeles at the Staples Center September 5 and wrapping up October 6 in a historic sold out concert inside New York’s CitiField – the first ever stadium show held stateside by a Korean artist.
