6 Things About Lewis Capaldi You Should Know! | Billboard

– Hello, this is Billboard and you should know me, Lewis Capaldi. I grew up in a place called West Lothian which is just outside of Glasgow where I was born. It’s a nice place if you’re looking for like stuff to do. It’s probably not the best place to live. The person I would want
me to play in a movie is Meatloaf. Mostly just because a lot
of people keep tweeting me saying, “You look like Meatloaf.” and they don’t mean
Meatloaf as a young man. They mean Meatloaf right now. Which, to me, that’s an offensive thing to say that I look like an older man. I would like to master the
skill of not oversharing. I do tend to tell people
about too much about me and like my bowel movements and like every radio interview I’ve done, I have mentioned evacuating
my bowels at some point. So I’d like to be able
to reign all that in and you know, not talk about, we were in Amsterdam the other week and I, the whole interview
was based around the fact that I had the shits and that’s all they wanted to talk about and like, literally I was trying to steer
the conversation away, you know my new single’s
out, blah blah blah and they were like, “But
you shat your pants,” and it was like, a serious serious issue. So I would like to be
able to stop oversharing so that when I meet people they don’t just go, “Fuckin’,
you shat, you do poos.” I don’t know about all time but my favorite album at
the minute that I always, that I’ve been going
back to since it came out is probably Damn by Kendrick Lamar. Just ’cause I think it’s back-to-back, there’s not a bad song on it. I just think it’s incredible. I think he’s incredible and yeah it’s definitely, I think for the, I mean it changes but recently that’s the album I’ve been
kind of going back to. So this, call it the
craziest thing I’ve ever done because it’s not crazy at all. But I once was at, what do you
call it, like a supermarket and I was there with my
Mum, and she was like, “Can you go put the trolley,
can you go put that away “and I’ll go put the bags in the car.” And I took it and I put the trolley there and this lovely old
woman came up behind me and you know how sometimes
when old people say things and you can’t really hear
them but they look so lovely and they’re being, it was
probably something nice so you just go, and then you just walk on. So this lady came up behind me and says, “Oh du-du-du-du,” whatever, and I didn’t hear her so I just went, (laughing) and then walked away. And what I realized as I was walking away was that she had actually asked me, “Do you think you’d be able to
put my trolley away as well?” To which I have laughed in her face and walked off. So, that’s not the
craziest thing I’ve done but it’s a story. When you Someone You Loved
went number one in the UK. A top 100 single was never
on the cards for me, really, like in my own head. And yeah, it was just incredible, just to see as well, how it, week on week just progressively got a
bit bigger, a bit bigger and seeing all these people
hear it for the first time and I kind of wanted to
write a song about loss and you know the feeling
of losing someone. But that wasn’t necessarily specific to a relationship. So I was kinda like, I want
to write a song about that but I don’t want to
make it so centric to me in my own position so I tried to create like a broader kinda environment for the song and hopefully, you can play it and think about, you know,
anybody who you’ve lost.

  4. I grew up with Lewis.
Stayed on the next street and went to same school.
We weren't friends or that, but he is a pretty sound guy.

  5. West Lothian, around 35 miles fae Glasgow, around 15 miles fae Edinburgh, so, a lot nearer to Edinburgh, Simples 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

  6. I absolutely adore this man and the fact that he reminds me of Archie the Inventor from Balamory for some inexplicable reason makes me love him even more

  7. Actually love him man😂❤️ he’s too funny bet he’d good laugh on a night out seems dead fun 😊 x

  8. Lol I work with a load of English and continental people, and this is one thing they cant get use to about me… I also just say what I am thinking. The way I see it, if you dont like it, fuck off 🙂

It's definitely a Scottish thing. I am in Dundee so it doesnt get any better as you go north!

Never lose your personality though lad, it's the one thing you have that is truly yours. Dont let the pretentious pricks in try to change it. As my granny would always say, "Remember where yer fae, laddie".

And I speak for everyone in Scotland when I think we say good luck!

  9. Like how he says west Lothian isn't the place to live if your looking for things to do. You get to live near a city where you can do tons! I live 100 odd miles from a city in a rural part of Scotland we don't get any brand shops apart from lidl, Tesco (a small shit one) and a co op 🙄😂😂

  10. I think I'd get along with Lewis capaldi, we seems so similar in terms of talking about absolute rubbish

  11. I know we're that place is because I am Scottish to I was born IN Glasgow and lived on the outside of it

  12. DAMN. is such an amazing album, that's so awesome that Lewis Capaldi's favourite album is this masterpiece!! – K-Dot is the G.O.A.T.

  13. There's Ed Sheeran then there's this guy I just found out his accent and his music sounds nothing like his accent brilliant loved someone like you I my favorite song I hit every note perfectly love to make a cover of this song. He inspired me fucking incredible my dude

  14. Lewis: not hearing what the lovely old woman said
Also Lewis: As I walked off, I realised she told me, "do you think you can put away my trolley as well?" But then, I laughed off in her face.

  15. Adele has same problem of oversharing to a worse extent. Her publicists and agents keep her out of interviews and appearances because of it.
Frankly i love lewis' personality. He's young and has a lot to learn but i think he had a solid traditional upbringing and he'll keep handling the challenges using humor which is crucial to well being.

  16. Did you see him on Brit Awards, the song sounded terrible. The Mask Singer Nicola Roberts sang it better and the first I heard the song,I like 80s music,I don't like today's music, give me Bros anyday.

  17. but like does anyone notice lewis capaldi has a lisp? because i have the same kinda 's' sounds as him and i know i do
